Design that Creates
a Sense of Safety
Based on prototypes developed during scientific research and expert recommendations, the shape of the Neurocass chair was designed to provide the user with a sense of comfort, safety, and retreat from the surrounding environment. The main design goal was to create a cocoon-like space where a child can relax while remaining in the same environment where they learn, work, or interact with others.
This shape not only gently embraces the body but also helps reduce external stimuli such as visual and auditory noise. Research shows that partial sensory isolation helps children with sensory challenges calm down more quickly and improve focus.
The form is also optimized for therapeutic technologies: soft lighting from the top and high-quality speakers create a calming atmosphere that supports emotional regulation. The structure ensures that light and sound are directed inward, without disturbing others in the same space.
A key aspect of this environment is the clearly defined boundaries that give the child a sense of personal space and control. This strengthens emotional stability and supports self-regulation.
The chair’s design allows it to be easily integrated into various environments — therapy rooms, schools, libraries, or homes. It creates a balance between privacy and shared space, enabling the child to retreat without losing connection to the surrounding environment.
